Ray-Ban's aviator, in a child's size
The RJ9506S is the aviator as it has always been —metal double bridge, adjustable nose pads, teardrop shape— made for a child's face: 50 and 52 mm, short temple and a weight you do not feel. This 291/8H comes in rose gold with a violet gradient (category 2) lens. Rose gold: the softest gold, the least shiny and the one that pairs best with violet lenses. It is not just another kids' frame: it is the aviator their father or mother wears, in their size.
How it feels on. The metal is light, the nose pads adjust and the temple is short, so the frame stays where it should: it does not slide off when they bend down and it does not pinch behind the ears. And something that matters more than it sounds —the child puts it on and takes it off alone, without fighting the spring of a cut-down adult frame.
The lens: violet gradient (category 2). Violet gradient on rose gold: the softest combination of the model. It filters less than a green, so it suits in-between days or a child who mostly wears the frame walking about.
There is a workshop behind these glasses. We have been fitting and adjusting glasses in Alpedrete for more than twenty years, with registered optometrists and our own workshop. A child's frame needs adjusting every so often —faces grow— and here that is done on the spot, no appointment, no charge.
Genuine, with the paperwork. We are authorised Ray-Ban retailers: it arrives with its case, its cloth and a 2-year European warranty. The code 291/8H is engraved inside the temple and the Ray-Ban logo sits on the right lens.
Can it be prescribed? Yes.
It is a full metal frame, one of the easy ones: prescription lenses go in without trouble, tired eyes included in older children. We fit original Ray-Ban lenses or lenses from our workshop and hand the frame over mounted, centred and adjusted to their face. If the child needs near and far vision, we will tell you what suits them, no obligation.
Replacement lenses · from €38.28
If a lens gets scratched or marked, it is replaced: we carry the original lenses for every colour of this model, from €38.28 to €66.97 depending on the finish. They are ordered from the factory by frame colour and fitted here.
Replacement temples · from €28.69
The temple for their frame, in its original colour and with the tip. If an arm has broken there is no need to change the frame: tell us the colour engraved inside and we will give you price and lead time.
Cannot find your spare part? The catalogue does not show everything: screws, nose pads, temple tips, a lens that is no longer made. Send us a photo of the frame and we will track it down.
Frequent questions
What age is it for?
Ray-Ban classifies it as a kids' frame (Niñ@). Size 50 suits children from about 6-7 years and 52 from about 9-10, up to 13-14. It depends more on face width than on age: if in doubt, measure the front of the frame they wear now and compare it with a 50 or 52 mm lens.
Will it fall off when they run?
It is metal with adjustable nose pads, so it adapts to a child's nose and does not wobble. It does not have flexible rubber temples: if your child is very active and has already broken glasses, tell us when ordering and we will suggest a sports frame for everyday use.
Will it survive a child?
The frame is metal and the lenses are polycarbonate or polyamide, which is exactly what is used for children because it does not shatter. And if one day a temple breaks or a lens gets scratched, we carry the original spare part: no need to throw the frame away.
Can it be prescribed?
Yes. It is a full metal frame and prescription lenses go in without trouble. We fit original Ray-Ban lenses or lenses from our own workshop, and we take the chance to adjust the bridge and temples to their face.
And if a lens gets scratched, is there a replacement?
Yes: for this model we carry every lens and every temple in the original colours. They are ordered from the factory by frame colour and take a few days.
Shall we try it on in Alpedrete?
With children, trying it on is the only thing that works: come in with them and we will adjust it in front of the mirror, in real light. If you prefer, we will show it to you by message with photos and video.
