The 90s wrap, now in nylon and XL

The RB2228 takes the Daddy-O idea — a big frame close to the face with no light leaking in at the sides — and brings it up to date: the front and temples are nylon, not the injected plastic of back then. Lighter, and tougher day to day.

This one is Black with a Blue lens, reference 601/R5. 59 mm lens width, 20 mm bridge and 41 mm lens height on a base 6 curve: XL sizing.

What you notice when you put it on

Covers without weighing. The nylon front saves grams where you feel them, and the 130 mm temple stays put behind your ear.
No light from above or from the sides. The wrap shape and the tall rim cut glare off the road, the water and the snow.
It holds on the nose. High bridge fit, made for a higher nose and pronounced cheekbones.
Geometric, not round. The straight rim sharpens the face.

Nylon, not injected plastic

Nylon is an engineering thermoplastic: it handles dashboard heat better, does not warp in summer and allows a thinner front without losing stiffness. Here it is used on the front and on both temples.

The lens is mineral crystal, not plastic: it does not scratch in your pocket and keeps its tint for years. The hinge is screwed, so it can be tightened instead of throwing the frame away.

The frame takes original Ray-Ban prescription lenses, single vision or progressive, fitted in our own workshop in Alpedrete. The right lens keeps the Ray-Ban logo and the left one the brand engraving, as from the factory.

Where it comes from

The Daddy-O was born in the mid-nineties, when sunglasses were big and wrapped. The RB2228 brings that silhouette back almost thirty years later with a different material and construction: same gesture, different technique.

Original, with warranty

Original Ray-Ban frame with its case, cloth and card. The official warranty covers manufacturing defects. If a lens gets scratched one day it can be replaced with an original one.

Frequently asked

Is it very big? It is XL: 59 lens width and 41 height. Coming from a 54-56 frame you will notice, and that is the point of a wrap.

Does it suit a low nose bridge? This version is high bridge fit. On a lower bridge it will sit loose and slide down.

Are spares available? The model is new and Ray-Ban has not published lens or temple pricing yet. We will list them here as soon as they do.

Can I have a polarised lens? Yes, original Ray-Ban polarised lens, fitted here, with or without prescription.

How long does it take? Usually 7 business days. Prescription or polarised lenses take longer and we confirm it before ordering.
