The Ray-Ban round that weighs nothing: RB2180 Light Havana / brown polarised

The RB2180 is a round pair of sunglasses with a single-piece injected frame with no visible screws: light, it does not warp in a hot car and takes everyday knocks. High bridge, round shape: your face stays open, the frame does not sit on your brow and it wears all day without leaving marks. It comes in a single size, 49 and this version is Light Havana with a brown polarised lens.

How it feels on. On day one you think a round frame this open will look big on you; a week later you will not take it off. Because the front is one piece and the bridge sits high, there are no screws to loosen and no nose pads digging in: it rests on your nose and ears, nothing else. And the field of view is wide, so it works as well for driving as for reading a menu with the sun in your face.

The lens: brown polarised. A polarised brown lens, category 3 and 100 % UV. The polarising filter cuts the glare off asphalt, water and bonnets, so it is the one to choose if you drive a lot or spend time at the beach or in the snow. It costs €40 more than the others and you feel it. It can also be glazed to a prescription, and if one day it gets scratched there is a genuine replacement lens: from €65.04 the pair.

There is a workshop behind the frame. Centro Óptico Alpedrete has been fitting glasses in its own workshop in the Sierra de Madrid for over 20 years. We are registered optometrists: every frame is adjusted to your face before it leaves, checked a few days later and re-adjusted free of charge whenever needed. If you order it glazed, we fit the lenses ourselves and hand it over ready to wear.

Genuine, with the paperwork. You get the frame, its original Ray-Ban case, the cloth and the 2-year European warranty. Three ways to check it is genuine: the colour code engraved inside the temple (710/83), the logo on the right lens and the «RB» printed on the left one.

Which size should I choose, 49 or 51?
The 49 (50 mm lens) suits most faces; the 51 (52 mm lens) is for wider faces or for anyone who wants a bigger frame. If you are between the two, take the 49.

What does a base 6 lens mean?
It is the curvature of the lens. Base 6 is the standard on sunglasses: enough curve for the lens to sit properly in a round frame without distorting the image at the edges.

Can the lenses be replaced?
Yes, and you do not need a new frame. We stock the genuine lens for this colour from €65.04 the pair and fit it in our Alpedrete workshop.

What if a temple breaks?
The pair is replaced, genuine, for €51.05. The length is 145 mm depending on size and it is engraved inside the temple.
