Propionate is tough, but the lens anti-reflective coating is more delicate than it looks. Follow this sequence and they will last much longer:

1. Water first. Rinse under lukewarm tap water to wash away dust. Wiping dry scratches, even if you don't notice it at the time.
2. If smudges persist, use mild soap. A drop of perfume-free hand soap, rub gently with fingers, and rinse well.
3. Far from water, blow hard on both sides of the lens before using the cloth. Clear loose dust first, or you'll rub it in like sandpaper.

No paper towels, napkins, or t-shirts. And when you are not wearing them, keep them in the case — propionate scratches easily if left loose in your bag.
